Super “Cool” Hack Alert: The TP in Fridge Trend Hits WA, OR, CA

I’m old enough to remember people using an open box of baking soda to absorb odors and moisture in their fridge. It also helps keep food fresh longer.

If you’re like me, you often buy bags of salad from the produce section but don’t eat it fast enough before it goes bad in the fridge.

Well, now, it seems the kids these days are using toilet paper as a hack. TOILET PAPER?

WHY DO PEOPLE PUT TOILET PAPER IN THE FRIDGE?

The TP allegedly absorbs odors and moisture that causes your food to mildew. This presumes you leave food in the fridge long enough to reach that point.

I’m going to give this strange toilet-paper in-the-fridge a hard pass.

That huge roll of toilet paper would take up too much valuable real estate space inside my fridge!

WHAT ELSE CAN WE USE IN THE FRIDGE BESIDES A BIG ROLL OF TP?

I don't want to focus on humidity anymore since that is covered nicely, I think. I would like to expound on other things people can use besides a roll of tp to absorb ghastly odors and moistures in refrigerators.

I’ve heard that some people are also finding success absorbing those fridge odors by putting in a few of those little silica packets that come with everything from a new pair of shoes to handbags, food packaging, and the like.

Call me old school, but I think I’m going to stick with the box of baking soda!

Washington state has an average humidity rating. I grew up in Tennessee, where it is VERY humid, so I was quite surprised to discover my apartment is, too.

Perhaps this is because I live on the first floor and there is not enough air circulation in my home? I thought heat was supposed to rise to the top!

I think a call to my landlord might be in order!
