Mom’s Dishes in Yakima Provides Authentic Vietnamese with Wonderful Dining Experience
Mom's Dishes is set to do their grand opening sometime early September. In the meantime, they are open for business with a few menu items not yet available, but still have plenty to choose from. I decided to check them out. I'm glad I did.
The atmosphere was amazing. I just love the look and aesthetic of this place. Super impressive.
What's on the menu at Mom's Dishes?
They didn't have the dinner menu open just yet so I'll try the pho another time, but they did have several items available like a 2-entree dish which I'm a big fan. I grabbed the fried rice along with grilled pork and grilled chicken. They had a few other options available as well. I loved that the teriyaki or whatever flavoring this was grilled with was perfect. Not too sweet where sometimes it's almost like a sugary syrup. This was fantastic.
I also had to try the sandwich. These banh mi were some of the best I've ever had. If you've never had one, it's super fresh and even has jalapenos to give it that kick. There's meat along with items like shredded carrots on a fresh roll. If you've never tried one, you've gotta try one.
They had several appetizers as well like spring rolls, Vietnamese grilled pork sausage and something called Shrimp Paste-Wrapped Sugar Cane. Interesting stuff here. Can't wait to try other items on the menu later.
But, get this, the highlight for me was this bin of Andes Mints. You can take one or two after your meal if you're inclined. It was just fun to see this along with other items you may desire with your meal like crushed red chili flakes.
You can find Mom's Dishes on the corner of 1st and Mead, across Mead from Steve Hahn. I'd highly recommend it.
