Monday is a national holiday to honor civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. and city county, state and federal offices will be closed including banks and the post office. In the city of Yakima lots of closures are expected. That includes City Hall, Y-PAC, Public Works, and Parks and Recreation offices.

Yakima Transit will is not in operation on Monday

Business offices for the Police and Fire Departments will be closed. Emergency services will remain available. Yakima Transit will not provide bus service Monday and the City’s Harman Center will be closed. If it's your garbage day the city of Yakima garbage pick-up service will continue as scheduled Monday, but the Refuse Division’s office will be closed. There will be no delays next week for refuse collection.
Lions Pool will remain open to the public.

The annual MLK March is a virtual event this year

Each year the annual MLK March is held on streets in downtown Yakima but this year it's a virtual only event. Special guests at the Yakima MLK Day event include Henry Beauchamp Community Center Executive Director Adrianne Garner, Yakima Schools Superintendent Dr. Trevor Greene, student speakers, and other local community leaders among others.
