Pilobolus Brings Gasps, Tears, Laughs, and Applause to Capitol Theatre in Yakima
As ticket holders of the Capitol Best series at Yakima's Capitol Theatre, it allows me seats for all the shows in the best series.
I'm a huge fan of stage musicals so I figured getting the tickets for the Captiol Best series was the best option as you choose your seat and that becomes your seat for every show. Pay one time, get all the tickets in advance and I don't have to worry about it.
Along with the musicals in the series it also included tickets to Pilobolus reCREATION which was something I wasn't familiar with but, tickets in hand, we checked it out and had a great time.
As it turns out, Pilobolus has been a thing since the early 1970s and still going strong today. Amazing!
Pilobolus re:CREATION was 5 short stories told through dance. It's an awe of balance and strength.
But imagine the type of dance where the performers also use their own bodies as the props, if that makes sense.
Before the show they explained that we were about to see 5 different pieces; different stories.
The opening performance was done beautifully. Something about love and lost and souls being taken, I'm not exactly sure. Probably a retelling from mythology. It was great, though.
The second performance was a comedy piece that had everyone laughing. Here's a preview.
The third piece was another very moving piece.
The fourth was a fun one that used shadows. Here's a preview of that one.
From there we had a brief intermission and the final piece was the longest that took us to the end. Another moving piece that used chairs as part of the routine.
All in all, very much so worth a watch.
This is only in town for two days. 10/15 and 10/16 so if you can, grab your tickets and check it out. Family friendly and a lot of fun.
