Potential Thundershower Headed Yakima’s Way Today!
Time to dust off the umbrella, don your rain slicker, slip on your waterproof and perhaps have a small water craft available -- rain is happening today and we could even see thundershowers!
The National Weather Service in Pendleton, OR forecast:
Today - Yakima Valley
Scattered showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. Light and variable wind becoming northwest around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
While that doesn't sound too severe, we know things can change rapidly when it comes to weather, so be prepared and be sure to keep us handy - as we have the forecast for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
In addition, this could have an impact on your golf plans today. Many fair weather golfers that I know are loathe to play under less than pristine conditions. Rain or wind in the forecast - forget about it - they're at home nestled up on the couch, full of fear and consternation.
On the contrary, I've found a nice light rain does a couple of things for my 'game': First, there are fewer people on the course to worry about hitting with an errant shot - which in turn, keeps my liability insurance rates lower. Second, it gives me an opportunity to practice under less-than-ideal circumstances, preparing me for a foul-weather showdown with Tiger Woods in a future 'Major' tournament.
Okay. I let me imagination get the better of me there for a moment. A guy can dream. Wanna play a round this afternoon? I'll be out there. Just warning you.
