“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” – George Santayana, The Life of Reason, 1905
Where best, besides a history book, can we relive the past, learn from it, and avoid its mistakes...perhaps at a museum?

“It’s not a museum. It’s not a place of artifacts; it’s a place of ideas.”
– Jeanie Kahnke
The Yakima Valley Museum (YVM) has recently been accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, the highest national recognition afforded the nation’s museums.  Consider it the "Good-House-Keeping-Seal" of approval for benefactors, governments, outside agencies, and the museum-going public.
“We conserve our stories to inspire our community, learn from our past, celebrate our present, and guide our future.”YVM
Peter Arnold, Executive Director:
We are delighted to be re-accredited. This is a signal honor and one that the community can be proud of. The museum’s Trustees and I are certainly immensely proud of what we have accomplished together, and we are especially grateful for the dedication and hard work of our remarkable staff.... Being granted accreditation once more is an affirmation of all that we are doing.
Of the nation’s estimated 33,000 museums, 1095 are currently accredited. Yakima Valley Museum is one of only 19 museums accredited in Washington.
“A visit to a museum is a search for beauty, truth, and meaning in our lives. Go to museums as often as you can.”
– Maira Kalman

Did you happen to see the movie "Night At The Museum"?  It's an excellent use of today's visual arts to entertainingly tell the museum story!
