Rumor Mill: Is Texas Roadhouse Coming to Yakima?
Does the chain of communication matter in a rumor? Well, here's what I know from a friend of a friend who heard it from someone else or one of those convoluted chains of commands.
They heard word that a Texas Roadhouse coming to Yakima.
How viable is that happening? Somewhat.
How likely is that going to happen? Pretty likely.
How trustworthy is the source? As trustworthy as anything from something said to someone else.
Again, nothing fact and no documentation, but there was overhearing of talks of individuals who would be likely to open a Texas Roadhouse here in Yakima so I'm going with that.
And why not? Texas Roadhouse would be a great addition to all of the great restaurants we have here in town. Although you don't really throw your peanut shells on the floor anymore but you still get peanuts to throw the shells in a bucket as well as those beautiful, delightful, rolls with that cinnamon butter.
Have you noticed the best thing about any restaurant is the free bread before your meal?
From the sounds of it, it sounds like this would go into an existing building. As in, it would replace a local store or restaurant and be rebuilt to be a Texas Roadhouse.
Keep your eyes and ear peeled for the next few months. I'll fill you in on more if I hear more.
So far, as with anything, this is just a rumor. But we can hope and dream.

Stacker ranked the most expensive climate disasters by the billions since 1980 by the total cost of all damages, adjusted for inflation, based on 2021 data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The list starts with Hurricane Sally, which caused $7.3 billion in damages in 2020, and ends with a devastating 2005 hurricane that caused $170 billion in damage and killed at least 1,833 people. LOOK: See how much gasoline cost the year you started driving
To find out more about how has the price of gas changed throughout the years, Stacker ran the numbers on the cost of a gallon of gasoline for each of the last 84 years. Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.

Stacker used data from the 2020 County Health Rankings to rank every state's average life expectancy from lowest to highest. The 2020 County Health Rankings values were calculated using mortality counts from the 2016-2018 National Center for Health Statistics. The U.S. Census 2019 American Community Survey and America's Health Rankings Senior Report 2019 data were also used to provide demographics on the senior population of each state and the state's rank on senior health care, respectively.

Using March 2019 data from the Social Security Administration, Stacker compiled a list of the most popular names in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C., according to their 2018 SSA rankings. The top five boy names and top five girl names are listed for each state, as well as the number of babies born in 2018 with that name. Historically common names like Michael only made the top five in three states, while the less common name Harper ranks in the top five for 22 states.
