Shreds & Meds Take Back Day This Saturday!
If you're like me, you plan for this event! If nothing else, just to keep your future safe. I've been the victim of identity theft in the past, and it's a pain in the butt! I do what I can to prevent it in the future, so I keep a paper bag open in my office and anything that I get in the mail, receipts, etc. (anything that has my personal information), boom, it's filed in that paper bag! But time has come for me (and you) to properly dispose of that bag!
The Yakima County Crime Stoppers semi-annual Shreds & Meds Take Back Day is here! The event is meant to help combat & prevent identity theft by shredding documents (bills / sensitive documents / tax forms / personal items). They are also offering a free way to safety dispose of your old prescription drugs and old medicine, helping prevent it from going back into the community and schools.
Where & When Is It Going To Be Held?
In past years, the event has been held in multiple locations, but for this year, they've centralized it to The Valley Mall (2529 Main St in Union Gap) in the SW corner parking lot by Sears location. The event will take place between 9am till 1pm on Saturday, April 30th!
How Much Is Too Much?
Shredding material is limited to two banker boxes or three shopping bags of personal items per drop off (or until the shred truck is filled). No limit on RX drugs you can dispose of. Just please make sure that the shred & medications are properly separated.
How Much Does It Cost?
This event is free, but donations are welcome! All donations will go to support the organization's expenses as well as future reward funds. It takes a lot of help to make this event a success. Crime Stoppers wish to thank their sponsors at The Valley Mall, DEA & GESA Credit Union, Yakima County Sheriff's Department, CI Shred, Pacific NW University of Health Sciences, the Yakima Police Department & Leonard Rickey Investment Advisors.
