Yakima Police are crediting students and security video at Eisenhower High School with helping to make an arrest after the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Shawn Tolbert at the school March 15.

Police say students cooperated with police and helped ID the shooter

Capt. Jay Seely says when police arrived on the scene the shooter, identified as 15-year-old Jessy James Lee Krikorian, Jr. had already fled the area. Seely says they quickly asked to view security video of the shooting and officers recognized the suspect because of prior contact. Students at the school also were able to identify the shooter cooperating with police after the shooting.

The suspect was arrested after leaving his home on March 15

Seely says all that information helped lead officers to the suspects home on the evening of March 15. They then waited until the suspect left the home in a vehicle. Seely says officers stopped the vehicle and arrested Krikorian, Jr. Yakima County Prosecutor Joe Brusic announced on Friday that Krikorian, Jr. will not be charged and tried in adult court declining to ask a judge to make the decision. Brusic says he doesn't have the evidence to support placing a case in front of a judge to move to case from juvenile to adult court. Krikorian, Jr. is being held in the Yakima County Juvenile Jail.

Autopsy results were released by the Yakima County Coroner

Meanwhile the Yakima County Coroner Jim Curtice says an autopsy was performed on the 16-year-old victim. The autopsy found Shawn Tolbert was shot twice in the legs, once in the hip and one shot pierced his aorta.
The investigation continues Today.
