Believe it or not, in all my time with my love for Asian cuisine, Orange Chicken is one of those dishes I never really got into until more recently.

Given the option when a restaurant has 100 options I usually order something I'm already familiar with. Mongolian Beef, General Tso's Chicken, sometimes I just want a big ol' pile of fried rice and I'm good.

Orange Chicken has been on the menu, but couldn't get the idea of something tangy and sweet like the orange flavor mixed with chicken. I'm sure it's fine but, given the option, I'm ordering something else.

The other day I found myself at Ozeki's on 16th and Summitview.

This place has amazing sushi and wonderful entrees to choose from. They don't have a huge menu, but they also don't need one. They have staples like those I just mentioned as well as some of the best sushi in Yakima.

I knew I wanted something warm so was considering something familiar or even the ramen but whenever there's a new item on any menu, I'm immediately drawn to it.

This day at Ozeki's, the new menu item was the Orange Chicken.

Well... why not. Us going to Ozeki's was a spontaneous thing in the first place. We didn't go because we wanted anything specifically, we just knew we wanted something amazing and Ozeki's has never disappointed us.

Enter the Orange Chicken.

The fun part was I was with someone else so we could just share off of each other. We also ordered the Mongolian Beef so I had a back-up.

But it wasn't needed.

I think I'm starting to get the idea of Orange Chicken. Again, it does have that sweet and tanginess that comes with anything with oranges but it doesn't clash with chicken as much as I thought it would.

If you're curious to try to Orange Chicken for yourself (it comes with rice and a salad), try this one at Ozeki's on 16th and Summitview in Yakima.
