Viral singer-songwriter Charlie Puth had a scheduled concert at Nashville's Ascend Amphitheater on Tuesday (Aug. 28), but fans got more bang for their buck when country's Thomas Rhett showed up to sing a duet version of "Die a Happy Man."

The crowd ate it up — and so did Puth.

"Nashville you were amazing tonight," Puth wrote on his Twitter page shortly after the show, also thanking Rhett:

Of course, it wasn’t the first time or the last time that these two will work together. In an interview with iHeartRadio earlier this year, Rhett shared that he's working on some new music with Puth.

“I got to do a full week out in L.A. and I got to write with Ryan Tedder from One Republic, which is amazing, and Charlie Puth,” Rhett revealed. “And I just love getting to go out in that world and get to experiment just a little bit and hopefully, you know me and Charlie wrote a couple of cool songs together, so hopefully on this next album if we find something that we love jointly, then you might see his name on the (next) album."

Rhett even shared a picture from that writing session on his Instagram account on May 24, further admitting in the interview that he has written more songs than he knows what to do with.

Puth co-wrote Rhett’s song "I Feel Good," which was featured on his sophomore album Tangled Up.
