Watch A 10-Year Old Girl Set Weight Lifting World Record
Naomi Kutin, a 10-year old from Fairlawn, N.J., recently set a world record in the raw squat at the RAW Unity weightlifting championships in Texas. Big deal, right? How many 10-year old girls even lift weights? Well…
Actually, Kutin’s world record was for a competitor of any age, breaking the previous mark in the 97-pound weight division. The record had been held by a 44-year old European woman.
“When I was younger, my friends would be doing a lot of things that I couldn’t do, and I wanted to do something extraordinary,” Kutin explained, after putting up 209 pounds. “I wanted to break a record of some sort and I just really wanted to get this record.”
Below is a video of Kutin raw squatting 189 pounds last year. Watch it as you ponder your own meaningless, record-free, existence.
Maybe it’s time to hit the gym, dude.
