If winter is not your favorite season and you don't particularly care for the cold weather, have no fear -- I have some ways to help adapt your body to the cold so you don't feel like you are going to freeze!

Tip No. 1: Just spend more time in the cold. It really is as simple as that. Spend some time in a light jacket instead of piling on the layers and heavy coats. Allowing your body to adjust to the cold will help thicken up your blood and keep you warmer.

But, if that way isn't fast enough for you, the U.S. Army has a different route to getting your body to adjust to the cold. (Now I am not saying that the Army has the absolute best ideas in the world, but they have put a lot of money into research on the topic.) For what it's worth, they say ...

Take a COLD shower. They say that you can start off your showering in 15 seconds of cold water and every day after that, add another 10 seconds to the previous time. As your body gets used to the cold weather your blood vessels won't constrict as fast, which will result in less shivering, thus keeping you warmer.

So if you aren't exactly a snowbird and you dislike the winter, well, start adjusting now so the rest of us don't have to listen to you complain about how cold you are!
