Yakima Airport Finally Updating the Baggage Claim Situation
Yakima Airport's baggage claim has always been one I've never seen anywhere else.
Not to say it doesn't exist anywhere else, but whenever I travel, I see that familiar conveyor belt that showcases everyone's luggage so that we can grab ours quickly and be on our way.
Or, in many cases, we see the impatient people who can't wait to grab theirs first. They crowd the front, grab everyone's bag, look at the tag, then put it back because it didn't have an identifier on their bags. That's always annoying.
Then you return to the airport in Yakima, and you see the little slope where they send the bags down, so you just grab yours from a pile and walk away.
That's been good enough for years!
Yakima Airport Announces a Few Noticeable Changes
Some great improvements coming to the Yakima airport so when you Fly YKM later this year, you should starting seeing those improvements first-hand. The Yakima Airport recently announced a major upgrade coming soon to their baggage claim. That's definitely something to look forward to!
They've already expanded their vending machine options, this is another step in that direction of improvements. They're also looking to go solar for the terminal and parking lot which is set to save the airport money for the year.
Also, speaking of our Yakima airport, don't miss out on National Aviation Day on Saturday, June 7th. This free event is happening right next to the runway, complete with aviation industry booths, real airplanes and helicopters on display, plus food will be available for purchase.
If your little ones have a passion for aviation, this is the perfect event to attend.
