DRIVER ALERT:  Yakima City officials say water line work will result in the closure of Powerhouse Road between Englewood Avenue and North 26th Avenue on Thursday, February 24, and Friday, February 25.

The work starts at 7:00 am both days

The work the project will begin at 7:00 am and last until 3:30 pm each day. A press release from the city says because Powerhouse Road is so popular with lots of traffic drivers can delays and should use alternate routes if possible until the work is completed. Detours around the construction site will be available.

Yakima city officials say the work could impact garbage collection

"Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour. Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area if necessary. The work may cause interruptions in scheduled refuse collection. Contact the City of Yakima Refuse Division at 575-6005 for more information. As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies."

City crews are always looking for the potholes to repair them as quickly as possible to reduce damage to vehicles and the roadway but they can't find all of them.

City crews are hoping you spot and call about a pothole

With over 400-miles of streets in the City of Yakima, the City is asking for help in reporting potholes.
“Having residents and community members reporting the locations of potholes, greatly assists Public Works in their effort in repairing them in a timely manner,” says Public Works Director Scott Schafer. “More eyes on an issue provide for better results.”

Potholes can be reported using the City’s “Yak Back” feature at https://www.yakimawa.gov/yak-back/ or calling the City’s Street Repair Hotline at (509) 576-6713.
