Yakima Has Some of the Cutest Locations to Take Pictures
The other day, one of my besties and I took our daughters out for a night on the town to see Black Violin perform at the Capitol Theatre, and on the way to grab something to eat before the show we passed by Cowiche Canyon Kitchen Restaurant. My friend remarked how one of her other daughters had taken some senior pictures across the street with the picturesque background. It's marvelous how Yakima has some of the cutest locations to take pictures, whether it's of yourself or your family members.
When I had first moved to Yakima, my next door neighbor at the time was a young budding photographer. She had asked me to be her guinea pig for a photoshoot at the Yakima Valley Electric Train Museum. She had me laying on train tracks, posting up next to remnants of old train cars, and I must have "struck a pose" out there in the sunshine for a good 10 minutes before she found the right angle of me to snap a pic. My arm got numb, my toes hurt, but beauty is pain, so it was a ton of fun to do!
Another time, another budding photographer friend of mine asked me to stand in the doorway of an abandoned building in downtown Yakima so that she could work on developing a portfolio to launch her own photography business.
Lisa's pictures came out amazing and I have her permission to post a few of them here!
Recently, I took my 10-year-old kid to get a smoothie at Jamba Juice. I have never been inside a Jamba Juice before but once I entered the place, I immediately thought to myself, this would be a GREAT place to take background pictures for an up and coming photographer! It is so light, airy, and the summer and pastel colors put me in a great mood!
I had the sudden urge to channel my deceased father, who owned his own photography studio when I was growing up in Nashville, Tennessee. He named his business simply, Cosby Studio. May his gift of taking great portraits and snapshots flow through me someday. They definitely di not that particular day, as you can see below, but hopefully sometime soon that photo "gene" will kick in for me! Ha!
