Did you get an alert this afternoon from the Yakima School District about a possible "vague threat of violence" that allegedly occurred at Ike (Eisenhower) High School? If you have a child attending a Yakima public school, you may have received an alert such as this one (see below). The alert states that a recent SnapChat video contained vague threats of violence.

I've asked around to the parents and Yakima public school teacher friends I know in town and from what we can put together, some kid(s) filmed a video threatening to kill someone if they came to school on Friday, September 24th. It appears as though this threat of violence could turn out to just be a school prank, but in these wild days and times, one can never be too safe. You know how it goes sometimes, a student will call in a fake bomb threat so they can get out of taking a major test, at least they did when I was in high school. In these modern Gen Z and Millennial generation times, they turn to social media to record threats AND phone in fake threats or pull the school fire alarms to get out of class.

I have a daughter in the 5th grade and she attends a local elementary school, so I was surprised to see a message about something that allegedly happened at one of the four Yakima-area public high schools.

The ParentSquare App alert from the school district says that school officials are mandating extra security and a Yakima Police Department presence at ALL Yakima schools for Friday, September 24th. Yikes! I am comforted by the fact that our school officials are taking all threats to our precious young children's lives seriously.

Below is a screenshot of the SnapChat video in question. One of my teacher friends said some of her students have been sharing this screenshot allegedly taken from the Snapchat video. It threatens physical violence. This is hopefully just a childish prank.
