Sizzler is Making a Surprising Comeback. Will a Return to Yakima Be In the Future?

There are several restaurants who have come and gone over the years. Many of them severely missed by those who grew up with them.

One of those restaurants that Yakima used to have was Sizzler.

Once with over 700 locations in the United States has now dwindled down to less than 100 with no locations remaining in Washington State.

The closest Sizzler to Yakima is in Albany, Oregon, just south of Salem.

Sizzler, of all places, however, has been seeing a resurgence of sorts and people are taking notice.

Time for a Remodel

Sizzler restaurants took pride in being affordable while still having that casual dinning atmosphere.

And that buffet and salad bar were the stuff made of legends.

And though previous management have tried to take the restaurant in a new direction, it just never works according to the interview by KIRO.

After the pandemic many remaining restaurants closed but 74 remain. Those lost the buffet but the amazing salad bar is still there.

Two underwent a revamping which saw a huge rise in sales so it looks like the plan is to keep revamp the others while still keeping the Sizzler brand and reason people love Sizzler going.

Don't Fix What Ain't Broke

When in doubt, go back to what worked in the first place and Sizzler is seeing a bit of a resurgence because of it.

As of now there's no sign of new restaurants opening but if this new plan is seeing more and more coming back to Sizzler it could mean we could be seeing locations coming. And, if so, I'd hope Yakima would be high on that list.
