Yakima’s Popular Event, Roots & Vines Festival, Is Closing for Good
I honestly need to stay off Facebook. Though I love to celebrate my friend's new relationship statuses, see some random quote my mom finds or see my friends who apparently uploaded 89 photos because they went to Applebees, I saw that the Roots & Vines Festival is canceling for a number of reasons.
Roots & Vines Festival was a fun reason to hang out in downtown Yakima with friends, enjoy food and music and great drinks. We need more of this in our town, not less. They do have their reason, but still.
If the Facebook isn't working, here's what it said.
It is with much regret that we announce the following:
Due to continued declining attendance, rising costs, and an oversaturation of the one-day event market, the Downtown Association of Yakima will no longer put on the Roots & Vines Festival. We want to thank all of the great bands, supportive sponsors, tremendous volunteers, the craft beverage industry, Stay Gold Entertainment, our local food vendors, and the City of Yakima for making Roots & Vines possible. We have many fond memories of Roots & Vines and its role in sparking revitalization in Downtown Yakima. We will see you at Downtown Summer Nights!
The Downtown Association of Yakima
Sad to see this event go. If there's an event or happening in your town, do what you can to support it. Even if you can't go, share it on your socials so others know about it to keep these events going in Yakima.
