It's time to admit that cell phones and wireless data should be considered more of a utility than a luxury. Washington State Health Care Authority wanted to let you know that Lifeline, an FCC program helping make communication services available to low-income people, is going above and beyond to help those in need during this time.

Lifeline applies to everyone in all states and territories to offer discounted telephone, Internet and voice-broadband services.

Applying is easy enough. If you have a landline, call your local provider and ask for a Lifeline application.

You can also apply online if that's easier for you.

Free Government Cell Phones is another way to look into it online.

Estimates range from 12 – 15 million Americans who already have a free cell phone. Those are people who now have a phone to help them find work, to keep in contact with their families, and to have for all the various things that require communications these days.
