In the days before Friday's record-breaking Mega Millions lottery, people who wanted to ruin everyone's good time kept talking about how you're 50 times more likely to be struck by lightning than win the lottery.

48-year-old Bill Isles of Wichita, Kansas is now their poster child.

On Thursday night, Bill bought three Mega Millions tickets at a grocery store.  A few hours later, he was out in the rain . . . and was STRUCK BY LIGHTNING.

And, naturally, he didn't win the lottery.  So there's your anecdote of which is more likely, I guess.

Bill was hospitalized overnight with an irregular heartbeat from the lightning strike . . . but he was lucky enough to survive with no other issues.
