When I was growing up, my mom and dad would take my brother and I out to get hot fudge sundaes all the time. Neither one of us weighed much, so we both got away with it. Weight is catching up to me now, but I still go out for hot fudge sundaes and remember my awesome parents and the great times we had.
I cannot wait to take a vacation. I try to plan for one every year. It seems, though, that when I do plan well, it never works out. There is always something going on. The question is if the rest of Yakima Valley are in the same boat? I am on a salary, so I don't continue to work when I should take vacation because of money. However, wages in this area aren't the greatest.
Downtown Summer Nights is going to be the best night ever. Not to mention that the weather in Yakima will be amazing! The event is free, but, the band is going to rock our whole city! Too Slim & The Taildraggers will be on stage bringing the excellent rock, southern rock and blues to historic North Front Street, July 21.
I suppose I could be considered a "foodie," although I can't afford to run around and try everything anymore. Getting escargot or the dim sum for the price they cost is out of my reach. I prefer getting a simple sandwich that will satisfy my taste buds, fill me up and leave me with a happy feeling! Yakima Valley has these places!
School is almost in session. It doesn't feel like the summer has even started yet, but it is almost time to start thinking about the school clothes and supplies! The Yakima Elks Club agrees, so they are stepping it up with a fantastic school supply distribution.
Baseball has rainouts. And sometimes, so do concerts.
For the first time in anybody's memory, Downtown Summer Nights had to fold up its tents, unplug the electronic equipment and let Mother Nature take center stage as a summer squall settled in and shut down Thursday night's show on North Front Street.
Kick back with a cold beverage and enjoy Yakima favorite Blake Noble (and some special friends) -- along with Yakima's own Indigo Kidd -- at this week's (June 30) Downtown Summer Nights concert on historic Front Street. As usual, a range of on-site vendors and restaurants will have excellent food and drinks starting at 5:30 p.m.
Westside Pizza is having a food drive and they need your help! Join 92.9 The Bull, Townsquare Media and Kelly 'Wild Wild' West June 29th from 4pm to 6pm and bring a can of food! Westside Pizza is giving 50 percent off your pizza order when you do!
