5 NOT New Laws in 2023, But Should Absolutely Be
A new year brings new laws. Most are stuff you may not even consider that deals with wages or behind-the-scenes work stuff at companies. Y'know, boring stuff. We talked about the new laws in 2023 earlier, but where are the real new laws that we should all be doing anyways? Well, here's a small list of ideas and notions that aren't new laws for 2023 but it would be nice if they were.
Ticket Fees
You buy a ticket for a $20 show. Then you have to pay taxes, which is assumed. But then you see a ticket fee, an agent fee, a printing fee, a location fee, an online fee, a 'oh, sorry, you used the wrong card' fee and, to top it all off, they have the nerve to charge something called a convenience fee. Convenience? Quite the opposite, my friend. I understand some fees like using a certain online vendor to accommodate using their website but the fees should never be the same or more than the ticket itself. That is why so many people are just paying at the door.
Video chatting with someone in a grocery store
I totally understand talking to someone about something quick. Maybe a reminder to grab something from the store or use the video service to show them the shelf as they don't know the exact item someone else is looking for. In fact, that's probably encouraged to save yourself from another trip to the store. What I'm talking about are those people who slowly walk the store's aisles in a video chat presumidly because they're bored. And the video proves nothing outside of the other person looking up their nose. It's not just rude and annoying but it's also very rude and extremely annoying.
Being charged after canceling a service
They're very quick to take the money out. Instantaneous, in fact. Soon as you put in your money info, the money is gone. As soon as you want to cancel the service, it should cancel instantly without cause or some random idea like having to cover an extra month or anything to wait for the service to cancel. If you can start it instantly, you should be able to end it instantly. Or at least after that month's cycle but there also shouldn't be a cancelation charge.
Online Shopping Bots
New video game consoles, concert tickets, limited edition sneakers, all subject to being bought out by bots that are set up so soon as something goes on sale the bots buy them all up so they can resell them at a super-high rate. Some companies have done what they can do to elimite stuff like this (only being able to buy one per household, etc.) but the bots keep getting smarter and smarter to do work arounds. Very annoying and should be outlawed.
Standing up right when an airplane lands
I promise you'll get off the plane when it's your time. I would excuse this if you have a quick connecting flight and, in those cases, they'll announce they have passengers that need to get off first. Unless you're battling a leg cramp, chill until it's your row to leave.
