In a letter to House and Senate leaders, the groups urged members of both chambers to work across the aisle to renew and preserve important tax provisions that expired at the end of 2013. Those include Section 179 expensing and bonus depreciation.

More than 40 agriculture groups signed the letter.

  • Michigan Democrat Debbie Stabenow has confirmed she’ll become the ranking member on the Senate Agriculture Committee in the new Congress.

Stabenow said she and Kansas Senator Pat Roberts have already talked about the committee moving forward. Roberts is set to become the chair of the Senate Ag Committee.

There have been rumors that Senate Democratic leadership was pressuring Stabenow to become the ranking member on the Senate Budget Committee. Stabenow stated “obviously I would rather be chair of the Agriculture committee and setting the agenda.”
