The Best Drunken Noodles in the World are in Yakima, Not Thailand
There's a place in Yakima I've been needing to check out for many months. Last night I finally told myself tonight was the night. It did not disappoint and now I kick myself for not going there sooner.
The place is Bangkok OMG Thai Kitchen on South 1st in Union Gap and as soon as I saw they had Drunken Noodles on the menu, I knew exactly what I was going to order.
We were promptly shown our seats but I took a scenic route to my chair as they have a couple of racks full of items you can purchase to take home to make your own Thai food at home as needed. It's always fun to see what they have on the shelves.
Although I knew the Drunken Noodles would be all I really needed, this was the first time I decided to order a couple of appetizers for the table as well. Potstickers and summer rolls (or spring rolls) always work for me. Both were great! For the potstickers, you got to choose between steamed or fried (we opted for steamed) as well as the summer rolls were a great size but not falling apart all over the plate. They rocked these to perfection. The peanut sauce was great, too. I wouldn't have minded if the peanut sauce had a little more kick to it but they probably make it this way to appease all.
I was, honestly, surprised at how fast the dishes came out. Still, with enough time to enjoy the appetizers and conversation, we started getting our plates. First was my Drunken Noodles. You have no idea how long I've been waiting to deposit this directly in my belly.
I was asked how spicy on a scale from 1 through 5 with 5 being the spiciest. I asked for 4 as I like my spice. The lady hesitated and said most can't handle their number 4. I was sure I could but I trusted her so I asked for 3 instead. 3 was perfect but I'm pretty sure I could have handled 4. 3 worked great, though. Presentation, portion-size, and those carrot flower garnish that, of course, I also ate were perfect. Everything amazing.
My child loves fried rice so they got the fried rice. Simple, yet effective.
And my mom ordered the Pad Mama. Though she didn't order that because she's my mom, the reference was definitely made.
Highly recommended. They have several other items on their menu I can't wait to order next time.
