Carrie Underwood Injured in Fall Outside Nashville Home
Carrie Underwood fell on the steps outside her Nashville-area home on Friday night (Nov. 10), suffering "a broken wrist and cuts and abrasions," a representative tells the Tennessean.
The statement reveals that the singer's recovery will "take some time" and that Underwood "appreciates all prayers and well wishes." Husband Mike Fisher returned to Nashville overnight to be with her.
The incident happened just two nights after she hosted the CMA Awards with Brad Paisley for a tenth straight year. The newspaper reports that she was treated for her injuries at the hospital and later released, but has been forced to cancel a planned appearance at the Country Rising benefit show, scheduled for Sunday night (Nov. 12) in Nashville.
Underwood was recently announced as a headliner for the 2018 WE Fest in Detroit Lakes, Minn., taking place next August. The superstar singer performed "Softly and Tenderly" during Wednesday night's (Nov. 8) CMA Awards — a tribute to lost country icons and the 58 people shot and killed at Route 91 Harvest Festival. It was one of the most talked-about moments of the show.
Country Rising will offer financial boost to shooting victims' families, in addition to those whose lives were uprooted by recent hurricanes.
