Could Benedryl, Sudafed, Nyquil Be Pulled from Shelves in WA, OR, and CA?
There so many over-the-counter pills we can use for just about anything. Allergy relief, needing help tackling a cold, stuffed up and not breathing well? Just about any drug store or even grocery store has a quick relief available for you without a doctor's note.
According to NBC News, the FDA has declared that phenylephrine is ineffective.
What does this mean?
Well, it means they're going to have to change their ingredients or something to continue selling the product with a truthful label.
At this time it doesn't mean they're pulling them off shelves immediately so don't be rushing out to get a stockpile just to sell them on Facebook marketplace or something.
From NBC News:
The concern goes beyond ineffectiveness; phenylephrine can come with side effects such as headaches, insomnia and nervousness. At higher doses, it can increase blood pressure.
One item that contains this that they're still going to continue with apparently is nose spray as it does relieve congestion temporarily.
