We human beings are endowed with 5 senses. Those five senses, as we all know, are taste, visual perception, touch, olfaction, and hearing. There is widely understood to exist a sixth sense which is defined as the power of perception' or a 'keen intuitive power'.

These senses, whether you, as I believe were bestowed upon us by a Creator, or rather, believe we humans have evolved into what we are and have, I think it's universally accepted that these senses come in very handy and we certainly have come to rely upon them greatly. Of course, there are those who do not possess one or more of these and perform at very high levels and enjoy their lives remarkably, but it's safe to say that once we possess them, we'd prefer not to let go of them.

Could it be, however, that on occasion, we might well wish that we could turn off a few of those senses when something or someone offends us with sensory overload? Case in point: I asked Facebook Friends and listeners on the show today, 'What's a sound that absolutely drives you nuts?!' The answers were varied and some I expected but there were a few I didn't see, or, 'hear' coming. Let's take a look:

  • PEOPLE CHEWING LOUDLY WITH MOUTHS AGAPE
  • FINGERNAILS ON A CHALKBOARD
  • PEOPLE WHO CLICK THEIR FINGERNAILS
  • GUM SNAPPING (HOW RUDE)
  • THE 'POP' COUNTRY MUSIC YOU PLAY
  • PEOPLE EATING
  • THE TICKING OF A CLOCK
  • SCRAPING OF TEETH ON A FORK
  • THE SOUND OF A WOMAN'S VOICE (HE'S DIVORCED I'LL BET)
  • SNORING
  • THE SOUND OF A FAN WHEN TRYING TO SLEEP
  • WHISTLING
  • A DOG LICKING ITSELF
  • EVERYTHING (SHE SAID SHE HAS 20/20 HEARING)

This is not an exhaustive list, although, I'm exhausted from having to chronicle it here. Check out the post on our FACEBOOK page and tell us the sound that absolutely drives you nuts. (be nice)
