Daylight Saving Time May be Ending in WA This Year
Spring forward.
Fall backward.
And, if this new bill passes, we can just stay right where we are with your antiquated version of time hokey pokey.
For years, Daylight Saving was a way to have more natural light during the day and into the night. Probably for farmers or something, I'm not sure. We didn't really question it when we were growing up, we just did it as it was the norm.
Then I heard of states like Arizona that did away with the Daylight Saving notion back in 1968.
Hawaii is another state that doesn't recognize Daylight Saving. They have plenty of sunshine as it is, they're good.
Well, if Arizona can do it, can the rest of the world follow suit? I mean, what would it hurt?
Washington was one state that stood up and collectively said, "Hey Hey! Ho Ho! Daylight Saving has Got to Go!" Well, maybe they didn't really actually say that but the notion passed in 2019 by the state legislature but still has to be approved by congress as KREM mentions in their article.
They've also mentioned how health risk from disrupting your natural sleeping patterns and all that with mental health that this causes year after year.
What's to approve? We say it's cool, stamp a paper or bang a gavel and call it good.
Well, apparently it doesn't work that way.
If it does pass this year, November 4th will be the last time we have to 'fall backward'. At least if it ends, it'll end with us getting our hour back.
Find out more on KREM. And here's hoping.
