Do You Have Subscription Creep?
It's one of those things that sneak up on ya. You sign up for access to an APP for $3.99 a month and think, “Hey, it’s a bargain!” and you go on your way. Then a few days later, you do it again. “It’s only $3.99 a month, why not?”
A couple weeks pass by, then you hear an ad for Disney+. Well you gotta have that. I mean, you have kids. Plus, they got all the awesome Marvel and ALL the Star Wars flicks on it. $6.99 a month or $69.99 annually? Sure!
Then you hear about that fitness/health app you gotta have. Another $3.99 a month. So it goes.
Or how about those trial offers? “Try it free for a week or 30 days right now!” Of course, to get the offer, you have to give up your credit card info. That way, when you forget to cancel, the app charges you. Where did all my money go again? Oh yeah – Apps.
This has happened to me many times. I even put a calendar reminder in my phone to remind that the trial is about to run out and to cancel if needs be – but does that ever happen? For me, rarely.
Next thing you know, you are paying for Apps you forgot about or never use. And you might have more than you realize that you have accumulated them over time. They crept up on ya, and you are paying for them. Monthly.
It’s called "Subscription Creep”.
This happens all the time. Hey, it’s easy to fall into Subscription Creep. It’s kinda like a digital version of your gym membership. You know, the one you pay for thinking you are gonna use, and never do?
I had at least four subscriptions that had I forgot about, including my free trial to Disney+ that I was still paying for. Ugh.
I had twenty apps I was paying for to the tune of over $80 a month. Hey, that’s a lot of Bale Breaker!
My Co-Host Brian found an old subscription he forgot about and canceled it. See, even the most elite of us are subject to subscription creep!
I canceled several of them and am kicking myself for not doing this a long time ago. I got my subscriptions down to four now, which I am comfortable with.
