If you live in a specific area of Selah you may have been boiling water over the weekend. Yakima Health District Officials say the city of Selah worked with the Department of Health to lift the boil water advisory that was set in place December 10.

The cause of the contamination has yet to be found

The actual cause of the contamination remains under investigation. But things are back to normal on this Monday. Yakima Health officials says after inspecting and testing water in the containment area in Selah (South of Southern Ave and West of 5thAve), results came back negative for E. coli.

It's okay to drink and shower in the impacted area after no contamination was found

Those who live in that area are no longer under a boil water advisory and it is safe for all City of Selah residents and businesses to resume normal water use.
The cause of the contamination is under investigation. A press release says the City of Selah and Washington State Department of Health confirmed the safety of the water throughout the city by:
•Isolating the contaminated area of the water system from the rest of the city’s water system.
•Flushing the containment area.

•Chlorinating and flushing the water system.

•Extensive testing was done throughout the entire water system.

The city and state officials will continue to work together to find the source

The City of Selah and Washington State Department of Health worked closely over the weekend the find and eliminate the problem.
