Eisenhower High School’s ‘One Acts’ is a Must See This Weekend
I'm a dad of a couple of Ike students. They like being involved in high school products like musicals and anything else they can join in on. When they told me they were going to audition and, thus, land roles in a student projection I was very happy for them.
I walked in knowing it was going to be a high school production of a few plays. What I did expect was how amazing the acting, and directing, was for these talented Eisenhower High School students.
Not just acting acting but comedic timing, stage presents, projecting, they know what they're doing.
The Senior One Acts from the Ike Players is a set of four one-act plays. Each completely different.
It's also fun as the directors for each of these four plays are students, themselves.
Aaliyah Enzler directed 'Whodunnit' -- a fun play where a mysterious death has different detectives attempt to conclude who could have possibly done the dirty deed. Everyone did such a great job and even had the audience try to figure out who could have possibly done it. Can you figure it out before the super sleuths?
'Villains in Therapy' is written by student Gwen Flowers and co-directed by Gwen Flowers and Sarah Mary Shannon. Villains are often misunderstood. Famous villains from television, movie and comics all meet up in a group therapy session which may cause more harm than help.
'10 Ways to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse' directed by Brigham Tibbett is a very fun, active list of 10 possible ways to survive if we're invaded by zombies complete with live demonstrations.
Finally Josh Waldon directed the play 'Lockdown' which is a very deep and real situation where students are stuck in a classroom during a lockdown. Is it just a drill? Is it an active situation? The children in the classroom don't know which causes more stress and anxiety.
All four performances are top-notch and I'd recommend watching this while you can.
