The Yakima Farmers Market, now celebrating its 13th year, going from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  every Sunday  from May to October fills South Third Street in front of the Capitol Theatre with hundreds of people looking for fresh produce and a great time. The local harvest can be tracked by the selection there. Green onions, radishes and lettuce in May. Then asparagus. Cherries and other fruit by the end of June. Sweet corn in July. Squash in the late summer and early fall.

The prices are generally lower than supermarket prices, and the produce is often straight from the field.
