Naturally, Washington, D.C., is the most affected. But Washington state is about right in the middle at 23rd.

Things that play into this list are federal jobs, federal contract dollars, percentage of kids on CHIP, small business lending, real estate and national parks.

Washington came in fifth place for highest small business lending per capita. That certainly played into this.
