Yakima's Community Christmas Tree arrives in downtown Yakima on Monday. Last month the city put out a call for a Yakima resident to consider donating a tree from their property to the city and that's exactly what happened.

The tree will be cut and trucked to downtown Yakima Monday

A press release says the Downtown Association of Yakima crew in partnership with the City of Yakima Public Works Division and Russell Crane will move the tree, provided by a Yakima area resident, move the tree to Millennium Plaza, and place the tree into the ground on Monday.

Some parking spaces will be closed for the installation

Even though it's a big tree the The tree’s arrival will not impact traffic, though parking spaces near the Millennium Plaza on 3rd Street will be closed for the installation.
The tree stands 40 feet tall and will be trimmed and groomed before it's installed.
city officials say plans for transporting the tree to Downtown Yakima are subject to change and dependent on weather and equipment.

The tree will be the centerpiece to Yakima's festive downtown

The official tree lighting ceremony will be Sunday, December 5th, at the conclusion of Downtown Yakima’s annual Holiday Lighted Parade. The parade starts at 5:00 pm and is scheduled to conclude at 8:00 pm.

Volunteers with DAY will hang lights on trees in the Plaza area prior to the parade and lighting ceremony.
