Is IHOP coming Back To The Yakima Valley?
It’s been over a decade since we’ve had the breakfast behemoth known as IHOP in the Yakima Valley. In early January 2013, crews finally started tearing down the building to make way for what eventually became the building that Mattress Depot USA, Urgent Care, and Party City occupy today.
For the past 10 years, we’ve had to take a drive to Ellensburg to get our IHOP fix, with the restaurant at 2704 Triple L Loop being the closest one to Yakima. Yes, we have fantastic breakfast places in town to enjoy: Mel’s Diner, Sweet Bees, Powerhouse Grill, Ballesteri’s Café, Waffle’s Café, Denny’s, and Shari’s (to name a few). But everyone knows when you’re craving something, YOU WANT THAT SOMETHING!
I’ve been hearing some rumors about IHOP expanding. That should be no surprise for any major corporation; it’s pretty much their job. But the rumor was that they were moving into locations where Shari’s had closed down, much like this Tacoma location.
In March of last year, Shari’s in Union Gap closed permanently, to many people’s surprise. Considering that it is pretty much across the street from where IHOP used to be, it seems like it could be a perfect fit.
I reached out to IHOP’s corporate headquarters for any comment or clue if we could see them come back into the valley. As of this writing, I have not heard back. Is IHOP coming back to the Yakima Valley?
Currently, there are no publicly announced plans to do so. But who knows what’s cooking behind the closed doors of the International House of Pancakes? Where's your favorite place to get breakfast? Do you want to see IHOP come back, or if they didn't succeed last time they were here, would it be better if they stayed away? Tap the App and let us know.
