National Mustard Day is coming August 5th so French's teamed up with Skittles to bring something that nobody asked for. Mustard-flavored Skittles.
If you think these sound super-gross, there's good news for you. They won't be available for sale in any store. Instead, this fun promotion item is exclusively available as a contest giveaway anyone is free to enter. You can enter to win at https://www.mccormick.com/frenchs/mustard-skittles.
This is not the first time French's mustard has teamed up before. They had mustard-flavored ice cream a while back with Cool Haus. They also had French's mustard doughnuts that people could also enter to win.
Like with anything weird, it's just a huge publicity stunt, and why not? If you take something that's a little out of the ordinary it gets people talking. All it takes is to come up with two things that you'd never think would go together and people will share, talk about it, talk about your brand and you become top of mind when it comes time to grab something. There are several mustard varieties on the shelf but someone will say 'hey! they were cool enough to do those giveaways, I'll support them.' and it seems to be working as here we are today talking about these Skittles.
Next year? Who knows. Maybe we'll have mustard-filled chocolates or they'll work with Rogue Pub Brewery out of Portland for a Mustard Beer. Anything can happen and, in today's day and age, it probably will.

To find out more about how has the price of gas changed throughout the years, Stacker ran the numbers on the cost of a gallon of gasoline for each of the last 84 years. Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.

The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here.
