It’s Official! You Can Book Early Morning Flights Out of Yakima Again
In an effort by the Yakima Airport, we finally have the option of booking an early morning flight out as well as the returning late at night flight back into Yakima as of right now. News Talk KIT broke this story last week and now you can see them show up when booking as of this past weekend.
These flights don't take into effect until November 17th, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday seasons, but you're able to book them now as when you type in dates for later in the year they'll give you the option of the 5 a.m. flight along with the existing mid-afternoon flight near 2:30-3 p.m. flight out to where ever you may be traveling.
And, yes, it does have the option to return to Yakima at Midnight. A late-night flight back in means you can spend more time in the city you're in and/or have plenty of options to return on your own time as other city's airports aren't near as convenient or as friendly as Yakima's YKM.
YKM only uses Alaska Airlines, though considered the #1 airline in recent surveys and as much as I love them, they don't always connect to exactly where you need to go as some smaller areas on the east coast may have you transferring using one of their partner airlines like American Airlines. But you can still book those flights with Alaska when using Google Flights or straight from Alaska website or app.
If you think 5 a.m. is early, it is, but after having to wake up at 2 or 3 a.m. just to drive to Tri-Cities and get to the airport in time for their 6 or 7 a.m. flight, I'll take Yakima's 5 a.m. flight any day of the week. And, fortunately, it's available every day of the week.
The problem with that afternoon flight is that it doesn't leave much room to connect to somewhere else in the United States to arrive on the same day. This early morning flight to Seattle allows plenty of time to connect to your final destination.
As of this time, they only have flight options for November 17 - November 20 as it's a long time ahead to book this far in advance but future days into December and into 2024 will be available soon.
