I'm not a big drinker. In fact the only time I ever touch it is when I know for a fact I'm home for the night, and I have nothing to do the next day. If I am out in public, I make sure I have safe passage home, and no cameras are around in case I let out my inner Chris Farley and flatten a table. But when I found out it was "National Scotch Day", I was like, well, crap, after radio job, I'm gonna celebrate!

When I first saw that July 27th was NSD (National Scotch Day), I thought that was kind of weird. Since Scotch is pretty much whiskey that is more special, why does it get it's own holiday? Does every drink get it's own holiday? What about my favorite boozy drink of choice... Jägermeister! Does that drink get it's own day to celebrate? Can you even celebrate Jägermeister? Is it because after a night of drinking Jäger, the only reason to celebrate is because you still have your pants? Well it turns out, that NJD (National Jägermeister Day) is actually a thing, (thanks to the Philadelphia mayor back on November 14th 2006). But now I'm off topic, back to the Scotch!

So why is Scotch important and different then other whiskey? Well first off, it dates all the way back to 1494! And the real special part of Scotch, it needs to be made in Scotland! Other requirements that get involved are the fact that the grain used has to be malted barley only! It also must be aged in barrels for at least 3 years! There is more details that go into it, but the funniest thing to me, is it's actually a LAW, so that people don't try to pass off other type of booze as Scotch!

What about "Butterscotch" is that real Scotch?"

No! I checked, I ate all of this candy & had some butterscotch topping on ice cream... I did not feel drunk, so butterscotch is not real Scotch! I will find out who to inform for proper legal action!

Scotch In Film!

Many movies have included whiskey in their scenes, but only 4 came to my mind that actually referenced that the liquid on the rocks was actually indeed Scotch!

Anchorman - I love Scotch, Scotchy Scotch Scotch!

007 James Bond: Skyfall - Waste of Good Scotch! (NSFW)

American Pie - Scotch, aged 18 years!

Inglourious Basterds - "There's a special rung in hell" (NSFW)

I know there are many more, but I just can't tell if it's actual Scotch, or a cheap whiskey impostor! Only the movie prop guys know for sure! Happy National Scotch Day!
