Yakima’s Beloved Diner Sharis Closes, But A New Spot Emerges

Shari's was one of those places in town that, honestly, I never thought we'd lose. It was convenient, it was always there when we needed it, they had amazing pies, I think most of Yakima loved Shari's as did my friends in other towns that also had a Shari's including Portland and Spokane.

It was a sad day and a little shocking when news got out that Shari's was closing. Not just ours, but all Shari's locations.
It was sudden, too. No 'we have one month left' or anything. Just, all of a sudden, doors were locked and that was that.

So, it begs the question, what are they going to do with that building? Well, we finally have an answer.

New restaurant in the old Shari's location in Yakima

Well, not exactly new, but another location for a popular restaurant in Yakima.

Yakima Business Times is reporting that JJ's Birrieria & Antojitos will be opening its 4th location in the old Shari's location on Fruitvale just off of 40th.

JJ's Birrieria & Antojitos has a location on 3rd and Mead, one in Wapato, and one in Moxee. This location on 40th and Fruitvale will be very welcome to have a location in that area under a new name JJ's Cocina & Bar.

When will it open?

They didn't give an opening date, but said reservations could be made as soon as this August.
