A topic came up not too long ago about different shops and businesses that Yakima doesn't have, yet.

I'm sure you have some great ideas as well.

Yakima's progress over the years

I can remember a time when we didn't have a lot of sushi options. There was maybe one place in town for a while that I heard did sushi but never went there. I didn't experience sushi until probably 1999 when they had a place at Glenwood Square and, from there, my life was changed for ever.

And I certainly remember a time when Yakima didn't have a proper ramen restaurant. Now we have a few options which is fantastic.

So when it comes to new business in Yakima, it's always exciting when it's something we don't have.

Here are just a few businesses I'd love to see come to Yakima.

Oddities Store

They have a great shop in Spokane, Petunia and Loomis. It's the type of place where it may feel like Halloween all year 'round. Everything from creepy books and VHS, haunted dolls, old carnival stuff, and a lot more. The kind of place that makes your hair stand on-end soon as you walk in. I think Yakima would do well with a place like this.

Easy concept to grasp. It's literally a room that has stuff you can break. As easy as cups and place or you can be issued a sledgehammer and go all-out on a TV. These have got to do your soul well. I hear they have one in Tri-Cities but haven't had the chance to check it out, yet.

A while back there were rumors of a Dave & Busters going to Union Gap. I haven't heard much about that recently if it was just more of a rumor or 'wouldn't it be cool if...' idea, but Yakima could definitely use an arcade bar. A place for grown-ups to have an alcoholic drink while playing some old video games of the 80s and 90s. There's one in Tri-Cities and Seattle has several, but it's time Yakima gets one as well.
