If you live in Yakima you know just how popular the Capitol Theater is, and how many plays it's brought to the Valley. We've been lucky enough to have more plays come thru the Yakima Valley, especially during the times of covid.

We've been lucky enough to have the director of Capitol Theater in the studio to talk to us about plays coming into town and has told us to reach out and ask about plays we haven't seen in Yakima. So we compiled a list of plays we're dying to come to the Yakima Valley.

5.) Wicked

One of Broadway's biggest plays takes a deep dive into the story of The Wizard of Oz. A telling of the unlikely friendship between the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda whose later known as the Good Witch. I don't wanna give too much away on the chance it does come to the Capitol Theater!

4.) Aladdin

The story of Disney's unlikely hero and his best friend who lives in a magical lamp. If you don't know the story of Aladin you may have been living under a rock for the last 20 years. One of Disney's more popular cartoon movies, it graced broadways stage and became an immediate fan favorite with musical numbers and stories for the ages.

3.) The Book Of Mormon

Created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone The Book of Mormon takes a satire style look into one of the most popular religions around the country and growing around the world. They tell the story of missionaries traveling the world to spread the book of Mormon while questioning their faith along the way. If the names of the creators sound familiar they also have a pretty popular show on Comedy Central called South Park

2.) The Lion King

Another Disney movie brought to life by Broadway and striking the masses with their musical numbers and deep dive story telling. Not one cast member isn't decked out as an animal, with mulitple people working costumes and puppateers bringing liions, warthogs and meerkats to life, it's simply a play you have to have on your bucket list.

1.) Hamilton

Need I say more, one of the most succsessful musicals in years telling the story fo Alexander Hamilton. It's been studied by the masses and loved by everyone whose seen it. It's currently on DIsney+ so you dont have to fork over an arm and a leg to watch it in New York, but if came to the Yakima Valley there's no way you could turn down an event like that.

Hopefully we gave some good suggestions for the folks at Capitol Theater and maybe, just maybe we'll see some of these musicals and plays live in the Capitol Theater!
