Washington, especially Eastern Washington, is one of those places that anytime a town or shop or something gets mentioned online, it makes its round through social media and at work, with people saying, "They! They mentioned Yakima on that Selena show," or, "Did you see they said Yakima on True Blood?"

Always a fun time.

I thought this was very interesting. There is a YouTuber named Radioactive Drew who educates on all things radioactive. This includes visiting mines and sites, talking about different Geiger counters and how radioactivity works, and a lot more.

He also actively collects radioactive items and talks about the items that are radioactive and why. One series on his channel has him discovering radioactive items found in every day homes, as well as visiting antique stores to look for radioactive items.

A JOURNEY TO THORP, WASHINGTON LEADS TO A SHOCKING DISCOVERY

One of Radioactive Drew's recent journeys found him in Thorp, Washington, home of the Thorp Fruit and Antique Mall.

This store is seriously one of my favorite stops whenever I travel to Seattle. If I'm not in a huge hurry, I'll swing in just to look around and maybe grab some ice cream or something.

Radioactive Drew took his Geiger counter to the Thorp Antique Mall to see what we could find. He searched through two floors of several antique booths, and, what do you know?! He found several radioactive items!

He was very matter-of-fact about it, as finding radioactive things isn't as uncommon as most would think. One of the first items he finds in the store happens to be uranium-glazed, so it shows up on his meter.

Oftentimes, the radioactive items he discovers weren't used in a nuclear facility or anything like that; in many cases, the chemicals used in creating ceramics, their colors and glazes are what cause them to register as radioactive. Neat!

See more from Radioactive Drew. He's gotta be my new favorite YouTube channel!
