Exploring Spokane: Unveiling Its Charms And Controversies On YouTube

Any town in Eastern Washington, when it's mentioned in media, is always worth highlighting and showcasing. I mean, after all, why should Seattle get all the attention?

There was a pretty popular YouTube channel who visit random towns and Spokane happen to be on their recently travel stops.

The video from Joe and Nic's Road Trip:

This video starts as a simple travel vlog and even features some great shots entering the town, seeing the great architecture from the older buildings and some ground-level shots of Riverfront Park and the famous, giant Radio Flyer that kids and can play on and slide down.

He visits a couple of other spots in downtown Spokane while covering stats about the town like population and average income numbers.

He also mentions crime rate is pretty high.

The rest of the video he does more touring like the Historic Davenport hotel lobby, more classic buildings around the downtown area, he drives through a few residential streets, and finally has dinner at Clinkerdagger which is a pretty high-end restaurant in Spokane.

What many have issue with this video is with the almost 30 minutes of touring the town in a mostly positive light, the title of the video is SPOKANE: The Shockingly High Crime & Homelessness Surprised Me.

Sure, clickbait is real and people gotta get those views on YouTube. It has apparently worked for this channel as they have 435,000 subscribers, but with so much more positive than negative it could have gone in another direction.
