We Washingtonians don't have a natural accent. At least, we don't think that we do. When someone relocates hear from a part of the country where distinct accents are prevalent, it only makes sense those folks would their accent with them.
Some words are just hard to pronounce. I can remember being a little kid learning how to speak. My dad would help me sound out the words, but some didn't come out of my mouth correctly. For example, I still can't pronounce bagel.
Do you listen to how some people speak today? All words have a meaning and purpose and I'm not sure how some words have crept their way into our daily speech. Like, you know what I mean. Dang it, I just did it.
