The Biggest Names That Came To Yakima In 2016 [PHOTOS]
We always hear people say that no big names come to Yakima, but lots of big names visit our fair valley every year. I thought I'd jog your memory on a few who visited Yakima this past year.
Feel free to comment below if I forgot anyone.
- 1
James Franco
Franco made a stop-and-go visit to the Yakima Valley during a two-day shoot for the film "In Dubious Battle." Franco produced and directed the flick about the labor movement for fruit workers in California during the 1930s. Yakima's lush apple orchards provided the backdrop and Franco stayed a few days here in September.

Macklemore
Seattle rapper Macklemore made a surprise trip to Yakima in August and played the Seasons Performance Hall. Macklemore wanted to give back to fans in a big way, so he picked a few small Washington state venues to visit. Yakima was a lucky location and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis were even seen walking the streets of Yakima before the show.

Clint Black
Country music was alive and well as Clint Black hit the stage at the Central Washington State Fair in September. We had numerous other country stars in the valley like Ty Herndon, Clay Walker and Jason Michael Carroll, but Clint Black was the cream of the crop for country music in Yakima.

Boyz II Men
The smooth sounds of Boyz II Men hit the stage at the Central Washington State Fair in September and held court to a sold-out crowd. The threesome have been to Yakima before, but this trip seemed extra magical to fair-goers and fans alike.

Chris Cornell
The former frontman for Soundgarden entertained concert-goers at The Capitol Theatre in July. Chris Cornell dazzled with lush vocal layers and proved his musical prowess with a stripped-down sold-out acoustic show.

Bernie Sanders
The largest gathering in Yakima no doubt was the Bernie Sanders rally that brought 7,000 to the Yakima Valley SunDome in May.
It was standing room only as Bernie was the first presidential hopeful to visit Yakima since 1999. It didn't matter what political party you belonged to, anticipation was high for the arrival of the senator from Vermont.
