@ The Gorge? A Realistic Socially Distanced Concert Example?
As we all find a new way forward during the time of Rona, this could be the first realistic look at what concert will look like in the future. We have talked about wearing special concert suits, going through misters, it all seemed a bit silly, but this idea which was tried last week may just work.
This example could be a good look at what future concerts look like @ The Gorge or The Toyota Center - And it makes the most sense so far of all the ideas that have been floated.
Last week, there was a show by British indie musician SAM FENDER at The Virgin Money Unity Arena in Newcastle, England. Where they really nailed a venue taylor made for the age of Rona.
The foundation was a former horse track with a bunch of "pods", repurposed for a music venue. Managed with individual small square elevated stages with metal barriers around them, separated from each other by several feet. Several people fit in each pod, which discourages intermingling with other groups.
As you can see, people are separated with every group getting it's own raised metal stand that fits 4-6 people in it. It's similar to box seats at a show. This discourages and minimizes contact to just your group or family and gives everyone the distance and comfort some may need during live shows.
Would you do this? Would you attend a show @ The Gorge or Toyota Center with a set up like this? Would you be able to enjoy yourself at a show managed like this?
This seems to be the best and most realistic proposal for moving forward so we can get LIVE music in our lives once again. Would you go to a show that was managed like this? Is there enough social distancing to make you comfortable enough to attend?
All My Best,
