March is reserved for Women's History Month. It's a nice title and all, and to be awarded a full 31-day month is nice, but what are the perks? It still seems like women are still paid less-than, treated less-than, and most would agree it's time to change all that.

Still, though, I was happy to see that Washington State was ranked in the top 10 to be a woman living in Washington State.

Always nice when there's some good news for a change.

As it turns out, of all 50 states, Washington State is one of the better states for women.

Source: WalletHub

According to financial website Wallet Hub, Washington State is ranked 9th place in best state for women.

They based these stats on the economic and social well-being ranking of women as well as women's health care and safety ranking by state.

The first place state goes to Massachusetts.

Here are the top 10.

1. Massachusetts
2. Minnesota
3. Washington DC
4. New York
5. Maryland
6. Maine
7. Vermont
8. New Jersey
9. Washington (that's us!)
10. Hawaii

So Washington is in pretty good company in the top 10.

A few other stats about this.

Washington is 9th for share of women who voted in the 2020 presidential election.
Washington is 11th for both live expectancy as well as median earning for female workers.
Washington is 18th for share of women in poverty.
Washington is 10th for share of women-owned businesses.

The worst state to be a women?

Can you guess? Well, if you guessed Mississippi, you'd be right.
