Washington State is the 2nd Least Federally Dependent of All 50 States
The United States is no stranger to natural disasters. No, not the old WWF wrestling tag team, I mean acts of mother natures like earthquakes, hurricanes, tornados, floods, polar ice storms -- if it exists, it's experiences somewhere in the United States.
We should be fortunate that, aside from a few instances we'll bring up in a bit, Washington state is pretty tame compared to other states that require federal assistance in rebuilding and all that as Washington is ranked 2nd place for who needs the help the least.
New Jersey needs the least help. Well, to rephrase, New Jersey is the first place for least federally dependent. I can just imagine the good people of New Jersey declining help as they can do it themselves, tough guy.
States that need the most help are Alaska, West Virginia, and Mississippi.
State residents' dependency and the state government's dependency are factors that went into making this list.
Washington state also comes in 2nd for gross domestic product per capita, as it pertains to this list.
Washington state doesn't come without acts of nature, itself. Sure, we don't have tornados like they do in the midwest or hurricanes like the gulf coast. However, we do have active volcanos and the occasional wildfire that sets our state ablaze. There also is a faultline that goes right through Seattle so we may feel a rumble here and there. In the meantime we can sit pretty but I'm sure wouldn't be above reaching out for help if something came along.
