Wendy’s: “will not implement surge pricing,” says CEO
Hear me out.
What if a company that's generally liked by many makes an announcement telling people they're going to start temporarily raising prices of meal items during the busier times of day and the Internet, being the Internet, has a thing or two to say about it. What do you think will happen?
Well, Wendy's did have an announcement just a couple of days ago saying they were going to start doing the price surging similar to what Uber does.
It didn't go over very well with pretty much anyone.
As if the entire Internet bullying a company do basically do the right thing has worked in the past like it did for the Sonic the Hedgehog movie to change his appearance, this must have worked, too.
AP reports that Wendy's has no plans on this price surge pricing any more.
“Wendy’s will not implement surge pricing, which is the practice of raising prices when demand is highest. We didn’t use that phrase, nor do we plan to implement that practice.”
That's right you won't!
Now, if they did, who knows, maybe other restaurants would do the same and give it 10 years it'd be the new norm. But I'm glad if any fast food restaurant was slated to do this, I'm glad it's not Wendy's to lead that charge.
This doesn't mean that prices may raise between now and next year as so many restaurants, including fast food places with drive-thrus, are all getting to pretty high prices, but as of this time you can expect to pay the same for a Baconator or Frosty at Noon or 5 p.m. as you would at 3 p.m. or 8 p.m.
